Next connection from the CLIP Intermodal Terminal in Swarzędz

29 May 2020

As previously announced, Clip Intermodal in cooperation with the Duisport Agency and PKP Cargo launched yesterday an intermodal train connecting the CLIP Group terminal in Swarzędz with Duisburg in Germany. This is a permanent connection 3 times a week. It increases the network of existing intermodal connections of the CLIP Terminal. Thus, we meet the recommendations of the COVID-19 package by carrying out cross-border long-distance transport without the participation of drivers.

The train consists new double pocket wagons owned by CLIP Intermodal for the transport of semi-trailers owned by CLIP Intermodal. The wagons were purchased with the use of EU funding, from the Cohesion Fund under the Infrastructure Operational Program and Environment 2014-2020, Priority III; Development of the TEN-T road network and multimodal transport; Measure 3.2 – Development of maritime transport, inland waterways and multimodal connections.

A set of wagons prepared for this connection enables the transport of all intermodal units, including all types of containers and intermodal semi-trailers up to MEGA size. Each train can carry 36 semi-trailers or 45-feet containers.

The connection we offer is really fast. Journey time by train between Swarzędz and Duisburg is just 14 hours.

It is worth to mention that the use of intermodal transport is a great importance for environmental protection, as it allows unloading roads by more than 10,000 trailers per year, which means a reduction of CO2 emissions in the amount of about 15,000 tons.

We are convinced that in the near future interest in intermodal transport in our country will increase so much that the CLIP Intermodal connection on the Swarzędz – Duisburg route will be implemented daily.
