CLIP Intermodal is launching a new intermodal connection between Silesia and the Ruhr Area (Dąbrowa Górnicza – Cologne).

Intermodal transport has become an increasingly popular type of transport in recent years. Every year, more loads are transported by rail in containers and trailers. The year 2020, despite the pandemic, is an increase in intermodal transport by about 18%, in which the Swarzędz-based CLIP Intermodal company has a large share, constantly expanding its network of connections.   The new CLIP Intermodal connection from Silesia to the Ruhr area will allow customers to get to the Ruhr area and BeNeLux without drivers and without trucks. Quickly, safely, without covid restrictions. It is also the first connection from the CLIP / ATS car-intermodal terminal in Dąbrowa Górnicza.   On March 8, 2021, a regular intermodal connection will be launched on the Dąbrowa Górnicza – Cologne route, offering: 3 trains a week in both directions, transport of intermodal semi-trailers: standard and mega transport of containers (20 ‘, 40’ / 40’HC, 45 ‘), transport of tank containers, possibility of using CLIP intermodal semi-trailers. In the coming days, a tender will end in which a railway operator will be selected for the train connecting the terminal in Dąbrowa Górnicza with the terminal in Cologne. The following are taking part in the tender: PKP Cargo SA LTE Captrain DB Cargo Polska   More information about the connection: Iwona Skurzewska Business Development Manager CLIP Intermodal Sp. z o.o. tel.: +48 885 951 105, email: iwona.skurzewska@clip-group.com , bok@clip-group.com...

CLIP Group S.A. starts construction of the largest intermodal terminal in Poland.

Intermodal transport has developed dynamically in recent years, although it still accounts for only a small part of the overall rail and sea transport. The share of intermodal transport in the rail market in the first half of 2020 in Poland reached the level of 10.3%. It is still less than in the countries of Western Europe. Nevertheless, recent years show that the demand for intermodal services in Poland is constantly increasing, as they make it a lot easier, especially for entities with large volumes.     CLIP Group S.A. responds to the needs of companies expecting future-oriented services. The latest example of this is the expansion of the CLIP Intermodal Terminal. This is the next stage of the investment under the project “Expansion of the intermodal container terminal in Jasin near Poznań”. The investment is co-financed by the European Union from the Cohesion Fund under the Operational Program Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020 Priority III. Development of the TEN-T road network and multimodal transport Measure 3.2 – Development of sea transport, inland waterways and multimodal connections The total value of this project is estimated at PLN 202.260.680,66.     The investment will triple the handling capacity of the current terminal from the current 136,000 TEU yearly to 533,000 TEU yearly, or up to 20 trains a day. The amount of storage space will also be doubled from the current 4,500 TEU to around 10,000 TEU. This will be achieved by adding 4 tracks, 750 m each, an additional storage yard and by installing 3 RMG gantry cranes under which it will be possible to reload 6 trains at the...

CLIP Group installs the first Lohr Railway System in Poland.

CLIP Group installs the first Lohr Railway System in Poland.

Lohr Railway System is a modern technology, patented and proven in operation, allowing for horizontal loading of standard road semi-trailers onto railway wagons, without the need for a crane. For over a dozen years it has been used in the intermodal transport, mainly between France and Italy. Now it is also available in Poland. The system was installed in Swarzędz, at the CLIP Intermodal Terminal. It is the first installation of this type not only in Poland, but also in any European country east of the Bettembourg – Orbassano near Turin axis. For proper operation it requires the use of specialized wagons equipped with a rotating platform on which a tractor with a semi-trailer is driven. When properly positioned, the set is disconnected, and the platform with the trailer rotates and aligns parallel to the axis of the wagon. Importantly, the system allows for loading the wagons with semi-trailers, which due to their technical parameters cannot be lifted vertically with the use of a reachstacker or an overhead crane. Semi-trailers of this type are still the vast majority of trailers operated by road carriers throughout Europe. The advantages of the Lohr Railway system include: short loading and unloading times, possibility of loading / unloading many wagons at the same time, no need to use additional reloading devices. The installation of the innovative Lohr Railway system is the next step in the modernization of the CLIP Intermodal Terminal, a step that has a significant impact on the development of the entire intermodal transport sector. Thanks to that, CLIP Intermodal Sp. z o.o. will expand the loading capacity of the train...
